PGTheatre's Little Shop of Horrors THE AUDITION (ATP performance program only)

For the audition, young actors are expected to present a brief monologue and a song (each being 1-2 minutes in length). Students are expected to be fully prepared for their audition; audition material should be well rehearsed and committed to memory. Check the monologues page for possible monologues and ideas on where to find monologue collection books. If you have questions about preparing your audition, please call Jill, 946-4433, x2.

Auditions for Fall 2005 ATP are September 7, 8, 12 and 13 between 6pm and 9pm. Spring 2006 Auditions will be January 24, 25, 26 and 30. A 10-minute time slot will be reserved for new students and a 5-minute time slot will be reserved for returning students. An appointment confirmation will be sent to you. Auditions are scheduled on a first-come, first serve basis. (Special preference will not be given to returning actors). A completed registration form and accompanying payment is required to schedule an audition.

Actors should bring to their audition a current photo of themselves and sheet music for their song (in the right key), so the musical director can accompany them on the piano.

CALLBACKS PGTheatre's Lucky Stiff cast

A second round of auditions for Fall 2005 ATP will occur September 15, 19 20, and/or 21 between 4-9pm for students accepted into the program. (The Artistic Director will contact parents of those students not being called back.) A list will be posted on our web site on September 14 indicating which students are called back on which evening(s). If you do not see your name on the list, please call the PGT Office at 946-4433.

To best prepare for a callback, please come with an open mind, dressed for movement, and ready to dance, sing and read from the script.

CASTING

Upon completion of the auditions and callbacks, the artistic staff will cast all four shows for the season. Actors will be cast in the project that best suits them individually – the show which challenges them, shows off the skills they already possess, meets their schedule needs, etc. Students will be notified on September 23 of the show in which they are cast, their role in the show, and the first rehearsal date.

PGTheatre's Tom Sawyer rehearsal REHEARSALS

Detailed schedules will be distributed at the first rehearsal. Students will begin rehearsing their production 2-3 evenings per week and on occasional Sundays. Consistent attendance to rehearsals is required. Actors are called to rehearse as they are needed, so the actual time dedicated to rehearsals may vary from week-to-week for each actor. In the final two weeks before each show opens, there are rehearsals every evening and every actor is expected to attend. Students can expect to miss one of their PGT classes during this period.

CLASSES

In addition to rehearsals, students in ATP will take one class. ATP Students will select their class preferences at their audition. Classes are enrolled on a first come, first serve basis and will be determined for ATP students by the date their registration is received. Classes for actor training students will be determined after casting, based on the following considerations: the class preference they selected at auditions, rehearsal schedule, which elective would best benefit them at this point in their training, and the needs of the production in which they are cast. Consistent attendance to classes is required for participation in the Actor Training Program.

PGTheatre's Sound of Music PERFORMANCES

PGT performances take place at various theaters in Westchester County. Past locations have included the White Plains Performing Arts Center, Performing Arts Center at SUNY Purchase, Irvington Town Hall Theatre and Pelham Manor Club Theatre. The last week of rehearsals (Tech Week) is held at the performance location.
